Harihar Fort Trek
Overview
Harihar Fort is one of Maharashtra's most unique and thrilling trekking destinations. From the base village, the fort appears almost rectangular but is actually built on a triangular prism of rock. Three faces and two edges of the fort are vertical, while the western edge is inclined at approximately 75 degrees. The most exciting part of the trek is the spectacular rock-cut staircase carved into the mountain, featuring approximately 117 steps with niches for support. After ascending the first staircase, trekkers pass beneath a rocky overhang with a steep drop. Another challenging set of stairs leads through the rock before reaching the top of the fort. The summit offers excellent panoramic views of the surrounding Sahyadri landscape, making Harihar Fort a memorable adventure for trekking enthusiasts.
